Special Reserve Wines
Maquis Lien 2005 Blend, Colchagua Valley, Chile $40.00
The disctinctive 2005 Maquis Lien is made from a finely tuned blend of 38% Syrah, 32% Carmenere, 15% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot, and 7% Malbec. It is a generous red wine that reflects the character of the Hurtado family's special plot of land.
Lafond 2006 Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills $45.00
Vintage 2006 saw crop yields a little higher than 2005, with very good fruit concentration. The Pinot Noir harvest was also exactly a month later than in 2005. The wine was aged in French oak from Burgundy (25% new oak) and bottled in August 2007. The complexity of flavor found in Pinot Noir from Lafond Vineyard is a wonderful match with savory foods and a classic with grilled salmon or mushrooms.
Cougar Crest 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla $59.00
The growing season in 2005 was ideal for balance in the vineyard. Wide temperature differences between day and night ripened the fruit while preserving the natural acidity. Flavors of blackberry, cherry, olives, anise and cedar; with an aromatic finish, in shades of vanilla, caramel and mocha. Balanced tannins and acidity mean this wine is good now and for years to come. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cougar Hills and Stellar Vineyards, 10% Malbec from Cougar Hills Vineyard, 10% Merlot from Cougar Hills Vineyard. One of the top Cabernet producers in Washington State.
Benanti 2000 L'Amoremio, Super Sicilian $55.00
The color is that of an intense red ruby with garnet red tints. The scent is ethereal, intense, with nuances of plums, spices and noble wood. The taste is full-bodied, harmonic, remarkably persistent and reasonably tannic.
Familia Schroeder 2003 Reserve Merlot, Argentina $65.00
100% of this wine was aged 18 months in new French oak casks of medium toast (from 5th July 2003 to 20th July 2004). After the first year, the wine was aged 24 more months in new French oak barrels of intense toast (from 20th July 2004 to 10th July 2006).
Vina Valoria 1992 "Gran Reserva", Rioja Spain $100.00
A blend of 80% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, and 10% Mazuelo. Aged at least 24 months in 225 L oak barrels and another 36 months in bottle then released in the 6th year. A pale brick-brown color. A moderate nose of pencil shavings, stewed tomatoes, leather, and mild earthy nuances. The nose is definitely aged. Dry, light-to-medium bodied, lively acidity, soft tacky tannins, the palate is still very flavorful with sweet spice, black olive, cranberry, dried cherry, and underlying minerality.
Delectus 2004 Reserve Cabernet, Napa Valley $75.00
Deep, dark and intense aromas of blackberries, Grappa-soaked raisins and graphite fill the nose. The mouth is layered with soft tannins, nice structure and the mid-palate is densely packed and accented with flavors of dark roast coffee and cherries; the finish is long and gentle.
